It’s been pretty quiet around here this past week because I took the week off to hang out with two of my favourite people in the world.

We went strawberry picking

I reached a new level in my embodiment of the full stereotype of granola-crunching hippie when I finally tried my hand at making my own deodorant. Judge all you want. It was easy, cheap, contained only four ingredients (all of which you could eat with a spoon) and after using it all week in hot, sticky weather, I can officially say that it’s awesome!

Did some beach reading while the kids skipped rocks in the lake.

Of course I took advantage of the time off to do some cooking and came up with this to-die-for Blueberry Crisp which I’ll be sharing here later this week.  Sign up for my email list if you want an advance copy (sorry guys but my list peeps always get the recipes first 😉

The kids also had a bit of a cooking lesson and made their first batch of spaghetti sauce.  Gavin was on garlic duty…

…and Grace was in charge of onions and learned why mom’s always crying in the kitchen.

And what summer vacation would be complete without a little frozen yogurt?

Such a great week! I’m sad it’s over, but I’m also looking forward to getting back to the blog and working on a new project I’m creating to launch at the end of August – more on that coming soon!
